Container water garden is an excellent choice for avid gardeners who want to have a garden pond, but do not have space to construct one. Truly speaking, this form of gardening is similar to any form of container gardening, except that the former involves using a tub that can hold water for a prolonged period. You can experience the joys of a pond on your patio or terrace with very little effort by creating a container water garden. Begin by selecting a variety of plants and an interesting container. With the simple addition of a pump, you can create a container water garden in any outdoor space. Ensure that the location receives five to six hours of sunlight every day. To create, select a variety of aquatic plants that will create visual interest in your garden. Place plants in individual small pots using the appropriate soil or clay. Then top the soil with 1/4-inch to 1-inch of sand or gravel to hold the soil in place.
Position the potted plants in the container on top of bricks or overturned pots to create a variety of heights. Follow the water depth instructions for the individual plants. Fill the large container with water almost to the top. Add fish, snails, fountain kit or any other features to make your container water garden more interesting.
